Accessibility Statement for biogena.com
Last updated: 8 April 2026
This document has been deliberately written in a simplified form and in clear, understandable language, and thus complies with the principles and accessibility requirements of Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act).
In accordance with Article 4 and Annex I of Directive (EU) 2019/882, information on accessibility must be provided in a way that is perceivable, operable, understandable and robust, including through the use of clear language and a non-complex structure.
The simplification of this document therefore constitutes direct compliance with a legal obligation and does not replace any further technical or legal documentation, where such exists.
This document has been provided by AccessiWay to meet the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the Accessibility Act (BaFG).
Any more complex section is introduced by a simpler explanation.

Compliance with accessibility requirements
How we meet the requirements
We have tested biogena.com against the following standards: the European Accessibility Act, the German Accessibility Act (BaFG), EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.2. In doing so, we ensure that we comply with the following principles:
Perceivable
Instructions for understanding and operating content do not rely exclusively on sensory characteristics of components such as shape, colour, size, visual position, alignment or sound.
The content adapts correctly to the screen orientation, whilst the presentation and functionality remain consistent.
Where available, the purpose of input fields that accept specific data is correctly communicated to assistive technologies and implemented in a compliant manner.
The content is scalable, allowing users to adjust the text size individually without the user interface losing functionality.
Information is presented in the form of text, whilst unnecessary and non-scalable text images are avoided.
Changes to text spacing (such as line height, spacing between paragraphs, letters or words) do not result in the loss of information or content.
Additional content displayed on hover or focus remains visible and can be closed without having to move the pointer or focus.
Operable
There are no keyboard traps (free navigation to and from all components is possible).
There is no interference with keyboard shortcuts consisting of single letters, numbers or symbols.
No time limits dictated by the content are enforced; where they do exist, they are controllable, adjustable or extendable by the user, or justified by functional or legal requirements.
No flashing or flickering content is used that could trigger seizures; safety limits are adhered to.
The purpose of links can be determined by the link text itself or, at the very least, by the link text in the context of the surrounding content.
There are several ways to identify content within the environment.
Headings and labels provide clear information about content and functionality.
The focus indicator for keyboard navigation is visible on all interactive elements.
Elements that can receive the keyboard navigation focus are always at least partially visible within the viewport.
Functions are not activated immediately upon touch; they can be cancelled before execution and do not need to be pressed to function.
For user interface components with labels containing text or text images, the name read by assistive technologies includes the text displayed visually.
All functions can be used without having to rely solely on the movement of the device or the user.
All functions can be used without dragging.
The clickable area of interactive elements is large enough to ensure easy interaction for users.
Understandable
All relevant text sections can be identified programmatically.
User interface components do not trigger unexpected context changes when the keyboard focus is acquired, which could confuse users.
User interface components do not trigger unexpected context changes when activated by users via the keyboard or assistive technologies, which could lead to confusion.
The available navigation mechanisms are consistently positioned throughout the service.
Recurring user interface elements are designed consistently to facilitate their recognition.
The mechanisms for requesting support or help are consistent throughout the environment.
If an input error is detected automatically, the incorrect element is identified and the error is described in text form.
If an input error is detected and correction suggestions are available, these are provided to the user, unless legal requirements preclude this.
Robust
Standardised development technologies are used that can be interpreted by assistive technologies.
We have tested biogena.com with the most common assistive technologies across various combinations of operating systems and browsers:
Screen readers such as NVDA and JAWS (Windows) as well as VoiceOver (Mac and iOS) help us ensure that all interactive elements are read aloud correctly and can be operated.
In addition, we test usage with screen magnification and in high-contrast mode.
Our aim is to be compatible with the current versions of common assistive technologies. In doing so, we follow the best practices of WCAG 2.2 and the EN 301 549 standard. This ensures that accessibility is maintained even with future technical developments.
Standards:
On this basis, we apply the criteria of WCAG 2.2 (Level AA, current version) and EN 301 549. Compliance with these standards serves as evidence of conformity with the EAA, the Accessibility Act (BaFG) and other relevant regulations.
Ongoing monitoring and maintenance
For us, accessibility is not a one-off project, but an ongoing process. This is how we ensure that biogena.com remains accessible in the long term:
Accessibility coordination
Our accessibility officer monitors the digital accessibility of the biogena.com website and can be contacted at the following email address: [email protected]With the support of AccessiWay, we carried out a manual audit by external experts on 8 April 2026 to verify our compliance with accessibility standards. We follow a continuous cycle of testing and improvements and, through regular support, ensure that comprehensive audits — including manual testing by experts using assistive technologies — are carried out at least once a year.
We use automated testing tools integrated into our development process to quickly identify common accessibility issues (such as missing alternative text or form labels). Every code update undergoes these checks.
