Where is niacin found?

Niacin is found in many foods. The best sources include lean meat, fish, eggs and offal such as liver. Plant-based foods such as whole grains, legumes, mushrooms and green leafy vegetables also contain vitamin B3, albeit in smaller quantities.

How can you tell if a collagen powder is high quality?

High-quality collagen powder is characterized by carefully selected ingredients and transparent sourcing. Ideally, it consists of collagen hydrolysate, as this form is better absorbed by the body. How can a deficiency be detected?

Fatigue, lack of concentration, and brittle and dull hair are often the first signs of a vitamin deficiency. An increased susceptibility to infections and constantly feeling cold should also ring alarm bells. A visit to your doctor should clear things up.

Is ascorbic acid safe?

According to the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), taking up to 1 g vitamin C (ascorbic acid) daily, in addition to food, is considered safe. However, people with a sensitive digestive tract should refrain from supplementing pure ascorbic acid and instead use buffered compounds (e.g. Ester-C®, calicum ascorbate).

Iron deficiency during pregnancy

Where can iron be found for pregnant women?

Pregnant women can fill their iron reserves by eating legumes such as lentils and soya beans, red meat, nuts, seeds and certain vegetables such as parsley, watercress and spinach. When iron-rich foods are combined with vitamin C (e.g. peppers, broccoli, citrus fruits), iron absorption is further improved.

How can I promote my fertility?

There are various ways to promote fertility. A balanced diet, regular physical activity and a healthy lifestyle are fundamental factors. Food supplements such as folic acid, vitamin D and omega 3 fatty acids can also help. Avoiding stress and maintaining a normal weight also play an important role.
